Stereotypes
Stereotypes are characters in a media text who are types rather complex people, they usually definded by there role and won't change at all. These can be insulting ways to describe people or a type of person can are also sexist. Some examples of stereotypes are teenage boys are 'Chavs' or Blonde woman are 'Dumb Blondes'


The 'Chav' Stereotype

Examples of media texts that contain Stereotypes are Newspapers, TV and in Advertising.

In the 1950's and 60's when men dominated advertising stereotypical impressions of women as inferior or subservient were not only commonplace but usual. It was normal to show women as housekeepers, largely because most were.
